How automation works. This page provides a simple guide to the elements making up a typical automation system for gates or garage doors. We hope you find it useful.Control devicesRadio controlThe transmitter (1) is the most commonly used control device for activation of the gate or garage door. The transmitter normally has one or more keys memorised with the commands on the control unit and powered by an internal battery. To operate, the transmitter must be combined with a specific receiver, to receive signals sent by the transmitter.Several compatible transmitters can be memorised on each receiver.Proximity switch and reader In addition to the transmitter, the user can activate the automation by means of a digital switch (2), using a key-operated selector switch (3) or proximity reader for transponder badges.MotorThe motor acts on the gate or garage door to enable movement. The motor can be single or double, mounted underground (6) or externally-swing gates, sliding gates (5), and garage doors (4).Control unit The control unit (7) contains the electronics for control of the motor/s used to activate the gate or garage door. It can be external, connected to one or two motors, or integrated in the motor itself. The control unit acquires signals sent from the exterior (e.g. from photocells) and can also incorporate the radio receiver.Safety devices.PhotocellsPhotocells (9) are presence detectors to enable obstacle detection within the operating radius of the automation. On detection of an obstacle, the photocells send a pulse signal to the control unit, which blocks automation movement via the motors. These safety devices guarantee improved safety of automated gates and garage doors with respect to manual versions.Flashing lightThe flashing light (8) is used to indicate all movements of the gate or garage door to increase visibility for those located in the vicinityhome · reasons · how to fit a slide motor · how automation works · make it safe · photocells · press releases improve remote range · installing posts · loop detection · how to install underground motors · swing gates slide gates · garage door · why automate · why nice · remotes · accessories · manuals · contact usSign up for our Free Newsletter Download a free Nice catalogue.
